A MAN will remain in custody after allegedly spitting on people and threatening them with a paint scraper in Wangaratta.

The 61-year-old was arrested near the corner of Perry Street and Ryan Avenue on Sunday afternoon.
It will be alleged he was armed with the tool and made threats at several venues, including a hotel and fast food outlet.
He made a brief appearance in court on Monday, charged with assault and weapons offences, and did not apply for bail.
He will return on July 16.
