Cafe Derailleur will host a workshop Check Out My Trash on July 18, coinciding with the halfway point of Plastic Free July.
Cafe Derailleur owner Eric Bittner said it was timely to offer the public workshop to share tips to reduce waste and single use plastics.
He said while they composted food scraps and donated unsold products to Carevan Wangaratta, they were also cutting down their use of plastic.
“We have gone from plastic bags for takeaway orders to paper bags, we’re using compostable packaging for cakes and biodegradable straws,” he said.
A Rural City of Wangaratta spokeswoman will answer people’s questions about plastic recycling in the city.
Wangaratta business Fletchers Supplies will speak about simple product choices that businesses can make to reduce waste and single use plastic.
Check Out My Trash runs from 3pm to 4pm at Cafe Derailleur, 38 Norton Street.
