Mr Moussad, who won the world championship for sand sculpting in 2003, drew an interested crowd to his display on Monday and is also hosting workshops throughout the week.
The master sculptor crafted a dragon at the Bourke Hire Pavilion on the Yarrawonga Foreshore.
Sand-sculpting wasn’t initially something Mr Massoud looked to pursue as a career – it was only when his son Luke pointed out his talent and he began to sculpt publicly that the extent of his talents became known.
The festival will run through to the 14th of July, and aims to attract as many children on school holidays to Yarrawonga and Mulwala as possible, particularly students from NSW.
Other notable activities include a visit from the Collingwood Magpies netball team on Friday.
