The tyres were unloaded into Whorouly Creek, near Bussells Lane, late last month.
Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning staff believe the offender had driven in the black Nissan, with a caged trailer attached, on Snow Road.
A spokesman said information was being sought.
“Actions such as these are impacting communities and local environments,” the spokesman said.
“This environmental crime has been reported to Myrtleford Police for further investigation.”
It follows incidents at Granya and Wodonga early last year where about 150 to 200 tyres were dumped.
