The Magpies are a win clear of the Pigeons in second spot, but have fallen in two of their past three outings to keep the door ajar to the chasing pack.
Wangaratta were 10-goal winners back in round four with an even contribution across the court, led by 20 goals from Amanda Umanski.
Besides runaway leaders Lavington, who are three wins clear on top, the Pigeons have been the form team of the competition, prevailing in their last four encounters.
Albury can also move back into the top-five with victory against North Albury, with Corowa-Rutherglen needing to upset the Panthers to stay in the five.
In other games, Wangaratta Rovers host Myrtleford, while Wodonga Raiders will start favourites against rivals Wodonga.
