Casino Star ($7) won over 1200m from Maggie Manhattan ($41) and home club trainer Liz Aalbers’ Prairie Sun ($10).
“She jumped reasonably well, she drew barrier one and had a good position,” Hanley said.
“The jockey (Blaike McDougall) did a really good job with her, he got her out around the 250-300m mark and moved around them and once he got her going, he swapped hands with the whip and she won well, running away.”
The four-year-old won by three-quarters of a length with another length back to third.
It was the second win of Casino Star’s career, racking up almost $31,000 in prizemoney.
Hanley is now targeting Casino Star for an 1175m race in Albury in a fortnight.
Albury has a meet tomorrow.
