Team manager Steve Ronnfeldt said it was an excellent result for the Border side.
“St Pats are sitting third on the ladder and had their full team in, but we put it right to them,” he said.
“They tackled hard all day and kept persevering to come home with a draw.”
Goalkeeper Samantha Campbell continued her impressive form with another outstanding defensive display.
Summer and Riley Sutherland worked hard for the Spitfires all day, while Sherren Rahaley was also consistent throughout.
“We were pretty short on the day, we had Sharakena O’Halloran back for her first game after injury and she showed glimpses of brilliance,” Ronnfeldt said.
The Spitfires return home next weekend to face fifth-placed United, the position they are aiming for.
“That will be a pretty good game, they’re sitting one above us and have got a few more points,” Ronnfeldt added.
“We’ve got to play a double-header with St Pats in about three weeks and we’ve got Old Canberrans who are second.
“After that we’ve got a better run home.
“We’ll probably do well to make the finals, but you never know.
“We got a draw with St Pats and Central played them last week and got smacked 10-0, so the coach is pretty happy with that one.”
It was a tough day at the office for the Spitfires men, who were comprehensively beaten 8-2 by competition leaders Old Canberrans.
They also face United at Albury Hockey Centre in their next clash.
