Mayor Anna Speedie used her casting vote to break a 3-3 deadlock on a motion last night to rescind the grant and tackle the issue via the city’s Birallee Park master plan.
Parkland argued it would be left with repair costs if the courts were used by the public who were likely to litter, ruin the surfaces with incorrect footwear and damage nets and surrounds.
A council review previously questioned investing in the courts given the proximity of the Wodonga Tennis Centre.
