Nathan Kane Roberts, 36, was pulled over by police in Pooley Court in Wodonga on Anzac Day.
He returned a positive result for ice and marijuana.
The Wodonga Magistrates Court on Tuesday heard he was a high risk of re-offending.
Magistrate Ian Watkins noted he had a “bad history of driving with drugs in (his) system”.
Roberts was banned from driving for six months.
