While the stunning 108-point margin probably stands supreme, the Bulldogs’ decision to organise a helicopter for Pat Landy to fly to his sister’s wedding at 4.30pm made national headlines.
Shayne Ried, who was the club president and kicked 11 goals in the thumping win, said he doubted the day would be forgotten in the Upper Murray.
“They were good times,” Ried said.
“It was the third biggest AFL-VFL winning margin in a grand final.
“We won the seniors and reserves grand finals that year and it was a start of a four-year run for us.”
Bill Nichol won Bullioh’s best and fairest in 2008 and, remarkably, won the top honour for the next three years as the Bulldogs built a golden era.
“He was fantastic,” Ried said.
“He played some great football for Bullioh.”
Nichol will be among a big contingent of former players returning to Bullioh on Saturday for the 2008 senior and reserve grade premiership reunions.
“There has been a really good response,” Ried said.
“We encourage everyone to get along and enjoy the day.”
Bullioh should mark the occasion with a win over reigning premier Corryong.
The Bulldogs are showing no signs of slowing down after 11 straight wins with Hamish Clark, Taylor Fenton, Zac Burhop and Alex Freeman to take stopping.
Federal can seal the double chance by toppling Cudgewa.
The Swans are coming off an impressive performance with Steve Bradshaw likely to be pivotal at the centre bounces.
Keiran Brennan should also be a handful deep in attack.
Tumbarumba could break its losing streak against Border-Walwa at Tumbarumba.
The Roos kicked 12 goals in their last outing against Cudgewa and will be hoping Ryan and Luke Kirkwood, Cameron Johnston and Travis Collison are at their best.
