Hollands was named in the national under-16 side this week after turning in strong performances for Victoria Country on the Gold Coast.
“I was stoked to make it,” Hollands said.
“I was reasonably happy with how I played but I thought there was a bit of upside as things could have gone better.”
Hollands, 16, played as a high half-forward against Victoria Metro, Western Australia and South Australia and kicked four goals.
The Caulfield Grammar student was one of three Victoria Country youngsters selected.
“We didn’t win a game but we showed some good signs,” he said.
Hollands, who made the All Australian under-15 schoolboys side last season, is the eldest son of former AFL player and Wodonga coach Ben.
