The attacking midfielder is the only Hockey Albury-Wodonga player in the Canberra Strikers squad of 33.
Ronnfeldt, 18, has featured in ACT representative sides since under 15s and recently returned from the under-21 national championships.
Combine that with her Spitfires’ Capital League commitments and club hockey with CR United and there’s not much time to spare.
“I pretty much have no social life, hockey runs it,” she laughed.
“There’s been a few trips to Canberra, I know the road pretty well now.
“We (Canberra Strikers) train Mondays and Wednesdays, but they’re pretty flexible with when I can go obviously being three-and-a-half hours away.
“I played for one of the Canberra teams (ANU) last year because we didn’t have an Albury side.
“We’ve got a younger side, but we’re showing we’re pretty strong this year.”
Stepping up into the elite senior hockey pathway will offer plenty of new challenges for Ronnfeldt.
“This is one of the best squads I’ve been selected for, alongside being selected for Emerging ACTAS (ACT Academy of Sport) last year and getting noticed through that,” she said.
“I’m getting used to the physical side of hockey as well.
“It’s something I’ve definitely had to develop (the physical side), as well as my confidence being a younger player in a more experienced competition.
“I’ve got to get my fitness up a bit more, so getting a few more training sessions out on the pitch will be the main thing.”
Ronnfeldt has enjoyed working with Spitfires coach Jerry Sutherland this season and is grateful for the support her family and the Border hockey community has provided.
“It’s been really good for us and given us a fresh view on hockey,” Ronnfeldt said.
“The older players have also been really good in teaching us juniors and showing us their experience through hockey.
“My parents have been great at driving me everywhere, but they’re glad I’ve got my P’s now.”
Ronnfeldt commences training with the squad on Monday night with the hope of featuring in the Strikers’ squad for the opening round of the AHL.
Spitfires’ men co-coach Jeremy Payne and young gun Oscar Smart make up the region’s complement in the Canberra Lakers’ 35-man squad.
The 2018 AHL runs from October 6 to 28 on a home-and-away basis at venues throughout Australia.
