Firefighters were unable to do anything to stop the flames at the Sayers Road house on Thursday.
CFA operations officers Trevor Ebbels said a sheep farmer had been outside when he noticed the blaze.
“It was a very old weatherboard house,” he said.
“By the time the local brigade arrived the house was pretty much gutted.
“It was just a smouldering ruin.”
No-one was inside the property and no-one was injured.
Mr Ebbels said firefighters spoke to the occupant and determined a heater sparked the fire.
“With these old heaters, or any heaters, clothes need to be at least a metre away from that heat source,” he said.
“We don't believe the fire is suspicious.”
