United claimed the spoils in game one, 3-0, but Spitfires’ co-coach Jeremy Payne was pleased with the response on Sunday.
The Spitfires went into the break 2-1 up and made it 4-1 with seven minutes to play, before United rallied late with two goals.
Payne, Andrew Monte, Tony Donnolley, Justin Ellis all found the back of the net.
“It was a good result, we needed that,” Payne said.
“We played a very similar game on Saturday and controlled a lot of it, but we just couldn’t convert goals.
“We shifted a few things (on Sunday) with a couple of senior heads up front that we know can put goals away.
“But it never left us vulnerable through the middle or the back, everyone stepped up today and had a real red-hot crack.”
Payne admitted it was hard to pick the best players due to such an even contribution across the board.
They remain sixth on the ladder with four games left.
The Spitfires women fell 2-1 to United at Albury Hockey Centre on Saturday.
Young gun Tess Palubiski scored for the home side.
