BARNAWARTHA consolidated its spot in the top-five with a hard-fought 39-37 win over fellow finals contender Chiltern at Chiltern on Saturday.
In a tense final quarter, the Tigers fought their way back from a three-goal deficit to snatch the premiership points.
“It was a really good game,” coach Christina Madden said.
“We were three goals up for most of the game but within a few minutes that lead had gone and they were blitzing us
“We had no momentum.
“But our defenders worked so hard to turn the ball over and get us back in front.”
Zoe Pitts and Chloe Butters-Hamilton were effective for Barnawartha while Lavinia Kava and Courtney Hillier were gallant for Chiltern.
Thurgoona defeated Wahgunyah, KSC accounted for Rutherglen, Mitta United blitzed Beechworth, Yackandandah beat Wodonga Saints and Tallangatta saw off DMB.
