The Australian Tenors, backed by The Southern Cross Orchestra under the direction of musical director and conductor Joseph Macri, span all genres of the classical tenor repertoire with their Friends For Life concert.
Soloists in their own right, The Australian Tenors have performed extensively with Opera Australia, Australian and International Symphonies and Philharmonic Orchestras.
“We are looking forward to going to the Albury Entertainment Centre. It is a joy to bring a show that the patrons could not see unless they travel to a capital city,” the group said.
The are renowned for bringing romance and excitement along with warmth and humour to their performances.
Audiences will be treated to renditions of popular classical arias from the best known Operas, traditional Neapolitan songs such as Funiculi Funicular, and popular tenor tunes from hit music theatre productions such as Somewhere from West Side Story, The Impossible Dream, Bring Him Home, This Is The Moment, and beautiful duets including, All I Ask from Phantom of the Opera, Time to Say Goodbye made famous by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman.
An Australian tour performance from the tenors – Lorenzo Rositano, Murray Mayday, Ryan O’Donnell, David McKenzie and John Donohoe – is never complete without the popular Waltzing Matilda, My Country (Dorothea Mackellar poem), I Am Australian, among other favourites. Their vocal artistry, stage presence and ability to connect with an audience is the trade mark of their worldwide success.
The concert encapsulates the spirit, the beauty and vocal demand of truly authentic tenor voices.
Opera Australia soprano Giuseppina Grech will be a guest performer.
Grech is a versatile performer with repertoire spanning opera, operetta and musical theatre. She has performed principal roles with companies including Opera Australia, Teatro Moriconi (Italy), Victorian Opera, Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria and Opera Scholars Australia.
