The owner of Miss Amelie is the guest speaker at a leadership breakfast for high school students organised by Wodonga Council’s Youth Services.
This is the seventh year Youth Services has run a series of leadership breakfasts in Wodonga.
These breakfasts allow students to hear from inspirational speakers who offer their thoughts and experiences relating to leadership and life.
They are highly regarded with schools and function as a networking opportunity for leaders in different schools in the area, as well as meeting various youth workers, business leaders and Wodonga councillors.
Kapay will speak of his journey working with celebrity chefs Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay in England and how his experiences allowed him to follow his passion and return home to Wodonga.
The former Wodonga High School student spent four years in the kitchen at Fifteen before he spent another year working for Ramsay.
“Then I was working 14-hour days for nine months with no breaks and no staff meals,” Kapay said.
“You learn from all of the good and all of the bad and you create the perfect place.”
Kapay opened Miss Amelie in Junction Place about two years ago.
Participating secondary schools at the Wodonga leadership breakfast will be Catholic College Wodonga, Wodonga Middle Years, Wodonga Senior Secondary College and the Flexible Learning Centre.
The breakfast will run at Miss Amelie from 7.30am to 9.30am today.
