THURGOONA recovered from a slow start to edge out Rutherglen 33-30 at Rutherglen on Saturday.
After trailing by six goals at the first change, the Bulldogs rallied to consolidate their position in the top three with two rounds remaining.
Captain Kristen Andrews led her side superbly in the centre while Jenni Vine was playing well before going down in the second term.
“We knew Rutherglen was going to be a tough team to beat,” coach Zanelle Gerecke said.
“We didn’t have a fantastic start so we played catch-up most of the game.”
Defenders Jamie Sandilands and Emily Browne played well for Rutherglen.
Barnawartha ended Wahgunyah’s season with a 52-39 victory with Jo Withers in fine form for the victors.
Chiltern defeated Wodonga Saints by 10 goals, Tallangatta accounted for Yackandandah 53-32, KSC blitzed Mitta United 64-21 and DMB upstaged Beechworth 57-19.
