Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Stephen King said the showers came ahead of a cold front moving across Victoria, with potentially another 5-10mm to fall on Saturday.
Thursday is expected to start with frost and possibly fog, then become mostly sunny.
“Same on Friday and then another front comes through overnight Friday into Saturday morning,” Mr King said.
Falls Creek recorded daily snowfall totals of 24 and 23 centimetres earlier this week and further falls Wednesday morning increased the total beyond half a metre in 48 hours.
Another strong front is forecast for Saturday.
Hotham Alpine Resort also reported more than 50cm of snow this week.
