The three-day festival at various locations across Beechworth is a winter Bluegrass and Old Time country music convention, based at the town’s historic Old Priory.
As well as international level performers, the weekend also involves instrument workshops and music lessons.
Concerts and open mic sessions will be in five iconic Beechworth venues – Hotel Nicholas, Bridge Road Brewers, Tanswells Commercial Hotel and the Old Priory.
All workshops will be at the Old Priory on Saturday and Sunday morning.
These are aimed at musicians and non-musicians alike, across a broad range of instruments including banjo, guitar, dobro, fiddle, mandolin and harmony singing.
Blount, a fiddler, banjoist, singer and scholar, and Weitnauer, a classically trained violinist who turned to Old Time music, will be joined by a wealth of new and established acts attending this year’s festival including, all female band from Sydney, Whoa Mule and Steel City Sue from Newcastle; The Bluegrass Junction from South Australia; Blue Guru and The Undertones from Victoria.
Bands returning this year include Fruit Jar, and the Gob Iron (Cajun) String Band.
Dynamic Beechworth band, Kissin’ Cousins will also be featured.
