Have you ever seen a 3D printer in action?
To celebrate National Science Week, GOTAFE is opening up the doors of their Innovation Hub to give you the opportunity to not only watch products come to life, but to get hands on and print your own 3D models.
GOTAFE’s Engineering Trainer Craig Murphy is passionate about additive manufacturing and is looking forward to sharing the exciting process with the wider community.
“We have 3D printers, laser cutters, vacuum forming machines and garment printers.
“This equipment paired with your imagination is a formula for creating almost anything,” said Mr Murphy.
“STEM skills; Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, are the baseline skills required for so many careers. Add in Arts to create STEAM like we have here in the GOTAFE Innovation Hub and you have the skills that will translate across the future of work.”
GOTAFE’s new Innovation Hub is the culmination of research into the Maker Movement.
“After researching worldwide trends, we found an Innovation Hub to be the perfect fit.
“It resonated with our core business values and allowed us to provide a collaborative working space for our students, local businesses, industry and the community at large.”
“We can now offer our students the technology they need to make their ideas into reality and the skills to potentially create their own income.”

Digital or additive manufacturing is fostering the start-up community.
“If you’ve got an idea, we make it easy for you to test it out. It’s never been easier to take your idea to market in this new micro-manufacturing environment,” said Mr Murphy.
GOTAFE’s Try Out Tour will be held on Thursday August 16 from 10am to 6pm.
