The Hoppers also unveiled new lighting facilities at their home base, which will come in handy as finals draw near.
A $77,200 grant from the 2017/18 Country Football and Netball Program provided the lion’s share of the funding for the court.
A further $4000 came from the Towong Shire Council, while the club provided $31,000 of cash and in-kind contributions, with the total cost of the project surpassing $100,000.
The upgrades will allow Tallangatta more flexibility and space for training and development programs, as well as the potential to increase their membership.
Upper house member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, said the upgrades were long overdue.
“For too long, the netballers at Rowen Park have been held back by inadequate facilities,” Ms Symes said.
“That’s why we’re getting it done for clubs like the Hoppers, building the sporting facilities they need.
“The new competition acrylic court complements their existing court and will help the Hoppers cater for growing demand and for growing interest from women and girls.”
More than 100 projects across Victoria have been supported by the Country Football and Netball Program.
More than $9.7 million has been invested in various major projects in the last three years.
