Yarrawonga jumped a win clear with a thrilling 51-44 win at home over Corowa-Rutherglen on Saturday, while North fell to second-placed Wangaratta, 61-38.

The Pigeons also have a slender percentage lead of 1.53.

The pair could well be level heading into the final round with Yarrawonga away to undefeated Lavington, while North travels to seventh-placed Wodonga Raiders.

If results go as expected, it would leave the Pigeons’ final round home game against Raiders and North’s home clash against sixth-placed Corowa as the games to shape the top three, with percentage likely to prove decisive.

Yarrawonga’s win over the Roos has all but sealed the top five.

The Roos are now two wins out with the two rounds left.

Fifth-placed Albury faces Lavington in the final round, but should account for eighth-placed Wangaratta Rovers.

The Pigeons’ Caitlin O’Dwyer and Mal Nankervis were outstanding, while the Roos’ Zoe McLeish (30 goals) and Stephanie Clancy played well.

Meanwhile, Wangaratta’s Amanda Umanski fired 40 goals from 43 attempts at an incredible strike rate of 94 per cent.

Umanski was best on court, while Hannah Grady played a strong supporting role.

Grace Senior fell just short of breaking through the 600-goal barrier with 29, while Amelia Unthank and Nakita Singe were terrific.

Lavington held off a gritty Rovers, 46-33.

The Hawks trailed by just four goals at three-quarter time.

Alison Meani (29) and Sarah Senini (17) led the scoring, while the visitors’ Jami Hunt (18) chipped  in.

Rhiannon Dolahenty was the home team’s best, while Sami Kreltszheim was the Hawks’ pick.

Albury blasted Wodonga, 66-32.

Jess Fisher-Curnow bagged 37 goals and Bree Poole 29, with coach Olivia Aughton featuring.

Kylie Murphy (18) and Ellie Ainsworth battled hard.

And Wodonga Raiders defeated Myrtleford, 33-24.

“It was tough conditions for both teams, very physical game and for our girls, I liked their stability on the court and they stayed calm,” Raiders’ coach Jodie House said.

Shaylah House (19) topped Raiders’ scoring, with Brooke Pryse superb, while Saint Grace Taberner toiled.
