ALBURY hospital’s hydrotherapy pool should be reopened in three months, but a campaigner for its return believes it can be made suitable for use sooner than that.

Albury Wodonga Health have responded to NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard’s decision to provide $80,000 for the return of the mothballed pool.
It follows the pool being closed in June, with the site considered unsafe due to hygiene concerns.
“Albury Wodonga Health had already commenced the development of specifications for the works,” the hospital administrator stated in its media release on Monday.
“The expected timeframe for remediation is approximately three months to develop specifications, undertake a tender process, award the contract and undertake the necessary works.”

It is understood the key aspect of the work involves a new machine, known as an ultraviolet pool sanitiser, being installed at the aquatic hub.
The secretary of the Joint And Muscle support group, which has agitating for the return of the pool and organised a protest meeting, believes the work can be done sooner than three months.
“I don’t think three months is accurate,” Julie Ridley said.
“If they want to push it through I’m sure they could do it in a shorter period of time.
“That money’s there, the only hold-up is getting people in for the work.”
