Although the Swans will still narrowly miss the finals, coach Haley O’Neill was delighted with her side’s fighting spirit.
“It was an awesome game,” O’Neill said.
“It’s been a tremendous season, but unfortunately we have had injuries, sickness and people being away in the second-half of the year.
“It’s given our juniors a chance and they have really stepped up which is a positive for next year.”
Katie Lappin, Keiran De Koeyer and Janita Stephens have been playing well for the Swans.
Rutherglen were best served by Jamie Sandilands and Emily Browne.
Thurgoona look set to retain the double chance after playing a 43-all draw against Barnawartha.
