Lavington couple Shaun and Meaghan Heinjus renamed the business Albury Riverside Bakery when they took it over on July 30. 

The bakery has operated in Wodonga Place for five years and in Albury CBD for a decade before that.

“It is our first business together,” Mrs Heinjus said.

A baker by trade, Mr Heinjus has worked in the industry since he was 15.

Having worked part-time for friends and previous owners of the Albury Bakery, the business transition was seamless.

Mrs Heinjus said it was her husband’s idea to rename the bakery given its proximity to the Murray River.

“We look straight across to the river,” she said.

Having both gone to high school in North Albury, the couple now has three children.

A teacher’s aid, Mrs Heinjus said she helped with bakery deliveries and service while her husband did the baking overnight.

Albury Riverside Bakery offers bread and specialty pies such as gourmet chicken, onion, mushroom, beef and curry as well as family pies and sausage rolls.

It also bakes gluten-free bread on Wednesdays and Saturdays but orders are preferred. 

It services businesses in Albury, Wodonga and Baranduda as well as Albury North Public School and Wodonga Primary School.

Albury Riverside Bakery’s official grand opening at 2/406 Wodonga Place on August 18 runs from 10am to 1pm.

There will be jumping castles, face-painting and lucky door prizes.
