At the inaugural CEO Awards in Sydney on Thursday, Border Relay For Life won Volunteer Team of the Year.
Chairperson Peter Whitmarsh said everyone was “pretty chuffed”.
“I’m sure we were up against very, very worthy opponents, but the committee’s a great team that comes together every year, all very capable, with different areas of expertise,” he said.
“It makes us feel really proud for what we achieved in the community.”
Cancer Council NSW said the committee delivered an exceptional event.
“There are 34 hardworking committee members, who have been role models in the way they work as a team, provide leadership and demonstrate inclusiveness to all members of the committee,” the state body said.
Mr Whitmarsh encouraged everyone to support the 2018 Border Relay For Life on October 27-28 at Birallee Park Wodonga.
