A number of costly passing errors saw the Border side trail 3-0 in the early stages and UCHC converted once more to take a 4-0 lead into the main break.
Thankfully for the visitors, they started the second half in much better fashion and got on the board with Riley Sutherland scoring shortly after a penalty corner.
However, passes continued to go astray as the Spitfires struggled to get back into the game.
An end-to-end effort saw Grace Ronnfeldt put away a well-placed tomahawk shot in the final minute of the contest to give some respectability to the scoreline, which finished 4-2.
“Our turnover passes killed us and left our back line to do a power of work,” team manager Steve Ronnfeldt said.
The Spitfires men’s side had a bye.
