The Bimblebox Nature Refuge Exhibition can be seen at the Bainz Gallery, Wangaratta Library, until August 31.
Through photographs, fibre arts, art works and text, the display portrays some of the endangered flora and fauna found in the 8000 hectare gazetted refuge.
Bimblebox is located in the Desert Uplands bioregion of Central West Queensland in the Galilee Basin.
Created in 2003, it contains 95 per cent of its original vegetation and is home to many species of conservation significance for the region including the black-throated finch.
Ten years ago, Waratah Coal, owned by Clive Palmer, announced its Galilee Coal Project, which would turn the refuge into a coal mine.
The Bimblebox Alliance formed to raise funds for a future court challenge, with some of the group’s books and videos available for sale at the Wangaratta Library information desk.
