In 2017, after donating $5000 to the Albury Wodonga Animal Rescue, and allowing patrons to bring their beloved pooches into the expo, we received overwhelming positive feedback with more than 100 well behaved pooches visiting the expo with their families.
After the success at the Border Caravan & Camping Expo last year, the Caravan Industry Association Victoria implemented a ‘dog friendly’ policy for all four of its’ shows.
“Due to public demand and the fact that more than 70 per cent of people prefer to travel with their pets we are allowing ‘man’s best friend’ – the family dog - to attend as part of the overall family experience again to the Border Caravan & Camping Expo,” said Caravan Industry Association Victoria’s chief executive officer, Mr Rob Lucas.
“Many people prefer to travel with their pampered pooch rather than leaving them at home these days and all our expo now reflects this and encourages positive pet ownership.
“We have now allowed dogs to all four of our shows since trialing this at the 2017 Border Caravan & Camping Expo where overwhelming support and success was noted from our patrons and exhibitors.
“All dogs were on leads and well behaved plus many other patron’s enjoyed meeting some of these pooches.
“We have considered all the logistics for allowing dogs to attend and provide water bowls at all gates and food courts to ensure that the pooches enjoy the experience of the expo as well,” he said.
The team at the Caravan Industry Association Victoria want everyone to have fun travelling. So, if you are attending remember to stop by stand 78 and pick up the ‘7 Must-Have Items When Travelling with A Dog’ postcard.
“The Wodonga racecourse is the perfect venue for all the family including the family pooch to have a nice day out while planning their next outdoor adventure,” said Rob.
“We would encourage those that are experienced caravanners and those who are tinkering with the idea to come along with their best friend and give caravanning and camping a go.”
“We have loads of free parking, great food and free activities for kids of all ages and the expo caters for the seasoned veteran and those wanting to dip their toe into the great outdoor lifestyle.”
The Border Caravan & Camping Expo will be open Friday and Saturday from 9.30am to 5.00pm and Sunday from 9.30am to 4.00pm.
