PICTURE PERFECT
League officials have reported the ‘MCG of the bush’ at Sandy Creek is looking cherry ripe to host another Tallangatta league finals series.
The surface is said to have better coverage of grass than ever before and the league has also installed a new set of goal posts at either end of the ground.
WELCOME BACK
After missing the finals last season, Barnawartha and Tallangatta have been the big improvers of 2018.
It’s the first time in three seasons that the Hoppers have made the top-five, while the Tigers have played finals once in the past three years.
On the other hand, minor premiers Kiewa-Sandy Creek and defending premiers Thurgoona have both reached the business end the past nine seasons.
SMITH STARS
Tallangatta’s Tyson Smith celebrated his 150th senior game last week and was among the best players on the ground in his side’s victory against Chiltern.
Since crossing from Wodonga in 2009, Smith has captained the senior side, won the club’s best and fairest twice, played in Tallangatta’s 2009 and 2015 premiership sides and also represented the league.
