But these goods are designated for a certain section of the population – drought-affected farming communities – and Mr Reynolds is seeking help in getting them to the right place.
“I need an honest person to transport them from my place to Dubbo, to hand over to the Deputy Mayor (Annemarie Jones),” he said.
“I’ve spoken to the Deputy Mayor – she is expecting 300 families on her property this weekend to cart hay up north and I’d rather the goods be distributed from there.
“There’s toothpaste, toilet paper, women’s sanitary products – anything to do with bathroom section of the house.
“Someone might have a truck going to Dubbo during the week and they could take the goods on my behalf, or I could borrow a delivery truck and take them up there with some mates – I have a licence.”
Mr Reynolds began collecting items eight months ago – well before the severity of the drought hit headlines and became the talk of city folk – and the only missing link is how to get them to Dubbo.
“I’ve had collection bins out in supermarkets – the IGA in East Albury has been the most receptive,” he said.
“Aussies help each other and without farmers we don’t eat.
“They are the backbone of Australia.
“The farmers need these kinds of products – if they’re buying these goods themselves, that’s money that could be spending instead on diesel, hay and feed for their cattle.”
The 66-year-old grandfather has also been fundraising as a member for Ulysses motorcycle club for a number of years, delivering Easter Eggs to the hospital and other locations, and has previously been an Albury firefighter.
Mr Reynolds said being active in the community helped to distract him from his health issues.
“If everyone takes the attitude ‘Someone else will do it’, nothing would get done,” he said.
