While the side won’t play finals, co-coach Jeremy Payne wants to finish well.
“We’ve got a few of our main players out this weekend, but we’ve still been able to field a decent team and hopefully get a win on the board,” Payne said.
“Central have always been a tough opponent for us, they’re a top-three side and always finish well towards the end of the season.”
Payne admitted the playing group has exceeded both he and co-coach Tony Donnolley’s expectations.
“The biggest thing for us has been to keep everyone keen and interested in returning next year so we can step it up and hopefully make a finals appearance in 2019,” Payne added.
The Spitfires women also take on Central in their final game of the Capital League campaign at 2pm, prior to the men’s clash at 3.30pm.
