It may have taken him until the second last game of the season, but former Cobram Roar coach Adam Gatcum’s first goal for the Goulburn Valley Suns was one to savour.

With the Saturday’s regional derby against Murray United delicately poised at 2-1 with 10 minutes to play, Gatcum converted a stunning strike from outside the box to help his side to an eventual 3-2 win.
“It’s nice when one flies in, you can’t beat it, especially in a derby and getting the winning goal as well,” Gatcum said.
“I gave it a strike, it connected nicely and nestled into the corner, it was perfect.
“I’ve been a bit unlucky this year, I’ve had a few different strikes but the keeper has saved a few.
“The boys have been giving me a bit of stick because I haven’t got one, that was my first goal of the year.
“It was nice to keep them quiet.”
Gatcum, 28, has thoroughly enjoyed his first season with the Suns and hopes he’ll have a couple more years left in him at this level.
“If we can keep most the squad together and have some continuity, hopefully we can challenge for the top-two (next year),” he said.
