Laurie Reynolds said Thrifty phoned him after The Border Mail reported on his need for transport.
He will now be able to use one of its trucks to drive to Dubbo next Tuesday with the goods he has collected over the last eight months.
Thrifty will cover fuel costs, while fellow rental company Avis also offered Mr Reynolds free transport.
