UPDATE 2pm: The driver of a vehicle, a man, aged 70, has died near Beechworth following a crash with a tree. His passenger, a woman in her sixties was taken by ambulance to Beechworth Oval and then flown to hospital.

A blue Toyota Camry was travelling toward Wangaratta from Beechworth and left the road just short of a guard rail and then hit smaller trees before being brought to stop by a large tree.
Police described the couple as local without saying where they were from.
The cause is being investigated and the road remains closed. The location is just inside the Rural City of Wangaratta boundary from Indigo Shire.
EARLIER: People are advised to avoid Beechworth-Wangaratta Road, about 15 minutes from Beechworth, near Ressom Lane.
Both lanes of the road are closed due to a collision.
On the Wangaratta side, the road is closed at Boundary Road.
Air ambulance is on route to the scene and emergency services are in attendance.
