Alpine’s Jim Delany says the bulls on offer next week are the result of their balanced breeding program which concentrates on structure, type and temperament and with a focus on high 400 day weight and moderate birth figures.
“Our sires are also specfically bred to complement our strong female herd and add to the female base of the future,” he said.
Mr Delany attributed a key factor to the company’s success in recent years to the addition of Welcome Swallow genetics which has added to their ability to achieve growth without compromising on the consistency and depth of quality evident in the lines of bulls they offer.
“Our close allegiance with the Western Australian based Coonamble Angus herd, run by the Davis family, has also had a positive influence
“Their core values of honesty, integrity and attention to detail fit in well with our ethos and the quality of their cattle are second to none.
“They are producing some of the country’s leading sires and their genetics are topping sales Australia wide. We are very fortunate to have a selection of their genetics throughout the catalogue, including embryo calves from leading Coonamble cows,” he said.
Alpine Angus have a strong commitment to providing quality and run a disciplined breeding program.
“We endeavor to introduce high performance genetics into our program. Importantly though we don’t compromise the integrity of our herd and core breeding principles in the chase to get the so called latest and greatest sets of EBVs and prettiest performance graphs.
“We travel extensively throughout Australia and the USA sourcing sires we feel can have a positive impact on our program and multiply genetics that can have a profitable effect on our clients herds and businesses.
“We like to think we get these decisions correct more often than not, but are honest enough with ourselves and our herd to recognize when we don’t.”
