WILD WEST
Last Saturday’s reserve grade clash between Osborne and Howlong erupted late in the third quarter.
In one of the biggest finals brawls the league has seen for years, Howlong’s Josh Baggio and Caleb Hobbs and Osborne’s Stuart Hunter were reported.
Hunter accepted a two-week set penalty while Baggio and Hobbs were set to front the tribunal on Wednesday night.
STRONG START
League officials were delighted with the crowds for the opening weekend of the finals series.
An impressive $16,600 was taken at the gate for Saturday’s clash between Holbrook and Culcairn and $12,000 for Sunday’s tussle between Osborne and Jindera.
The $28,600 was up on last season.
LOYAL AS THEY COME
Lockhart’s Pertzel family has been touched by the outpouring of support it has received following the death of Charlie late last week.
“The footy family has been unbelievable,” Charlie’s brother, Ian, said.
“We’ve had text messages from people throughout the league and people who played at Lockhart years ago.
“It’s comforting to know how many people respected Charlie.
“The family really appreciates it.”
Funeral details are expected to be released next week.
