BO: As co-captain at Tallangatta with Karina Cameron, do you have any specific responsibilities?
ER: We share all our responsibilities. We share the toss each week and do everything alternatively which is what we’ve done for years. It’s really nice.
BO: You had a heart-stopping 45-44 win over Kiewa-Sandy Creek in the second semi-final at Sandy Creek last week. What got you over the line?
ER: I really think when the going gets tough our team keeps its cool which is nice. I think it’s our experience as well which helps some of us younger girls. A bit of luck comes into it too. Keeping a cool head in the tough times always helps though.
BO: You have a few former Ovens and Murray players in the side. That must help?
ER: It’s unbelievable. We were always the club who had good players but just couldn’t gel. I think having that extra depth and experience has just helped us grow and improve since getting those guys to the club. It’s a real credit top the Tallangatta Football Netball Club to be able to recruit such quality as well. They have been fantastic.
BO: Last week’s win put you in the box seat for back-to-back premierships, does that bring added pressure?
ER: Not necessarily. We take every game as it comes. We don’t worry about what is happening outside training and what other people think. I think it’s a real credit to the team as well. It’s going to be a cracking game so it’s anyone’s to take.
BO: Finishing on top of the ladder as minor premier gave you a week off and now you have another one after winning last weekend. Is that a hindrance or a help after having so many weeks off in such a short period of time?
ER: I think it can work both ways. It was a tough, fast game against Kiewa-Sandy Creek at the weekend and I think the week off will be great. I know personally my body was pretty sore after the game. Having the week off, regrouping and getting our heads back in it will help us.
BO: Any pre-game superstitions?
ER: We have a few around the Tallangatta camp (laughs). Personally, Karina and I eat the same things before each game. Karina is the most superstitious in the team. We do the same routine each morning for netball and we’ll definitely do that again next week. We get our salad roll before the game and sit back and watch. There isn’t anything too superstitious tough.
BO: Can you give me something specific on Karina?
ER: Where do I start? She keeps the same hair band (laughs). She’s ridiculous.
BO: Good luck next weekend
ER: Thanks
