Fionna Deppeler-Morton was this week announced as the contender for the seat which covers Benalla and is held by Nationals deputy leader Steph Ryan.
The Broadford resident has been an electorate officer for Labor MLC Jaclyn Symes for the past year.
She said Nats were “unable to show how they’re delivering” for Benalla in contrast to Labor with a precast concrete factory.
“I’ve seen the work Jaclyn does and the investment she’s been able to draw to the area and we feel with a Lower House Labor Party member we could get even more for the area,” Ms Deppeler-Morton said.
Ms Symes had previously floated the idea of contesting Euroa.
“We had discussions around that and we think we can with both (elections in Euroa and the Legislative Council),” Ms Deppeler-Morton said.
Prior to working for Ms Symes, Ms Deppeler-Morton was an administrative manager for an archaeology company for 8½ years and involved with a business incubator in Melbourne.
Ms Ryan is the foundation member for Euroa which was formed after a redistribution.
She won it in 2014 and holds it by a margin of 13.6 per cent.
