“Look, he would have to be up there with some of the best,” the 1983 Morris medallist said.

“On his day he has the ability to have a massive impact on the game with very few touches.

“Those sort of players aren’t easy to find and, more importantly, they’re harder to defend, so you rely on help from others, but he’s certainly a game-breaker.”

The mercurial Filo consistently racks up 30-plus disposals and also boasts 25 goals from his 19 games.

And he’s been durable too, missing just the one game – in round 17 against North Albury – when he watched his brother Kane Farrell play for the first time for Port Adelaide against Collingwood.

Interestingly, Filo polled club votes in only eight of the 17 games in the home and away season, but he’s probably paying the price for his brilliance, failing to feature if he doesn’t manufacture a handful of remarkable efforts.

Yarrawonga midfielder Harry Wheeler is the clubs’ second favourite.

The former Goulburn Valley star has made an enormous impression in his debut year.

Wheeler featured in the club’s best in 15 of the 18 games with his ferocious work rate catching the eye.

The biggest story of the night could be if Lavington coach Simon Curtis polls the most votes.

Curtis missed one game through suspension and is therefore ineligible.

He missed votes in only two of the Panthers’ games.

A number of the clubs believe he will repeat team-mate Nick Holman’s effort in 2015 when he grabbed the most votes.

Reigning champion Chris Hyde is another fancy.
