The extra 10 trams will support the retention of 100 direct jobs at Bombardier's Dandenong factory, and 500 jobs in the local supply chain, the state government says.
The $83 million investment is part of a ten-year rolling stock strategy and boosts the modern E-Class fleet to 90.
