Cr Paul Miegel downplayed the impact a survey could have on the ultimate decision given his belief the result would not be definitive either way and council was only a minor player.
“It’s time to accept the umpire’s decision,” he said.
He said the former Corowa Shire’s support for the grey route was in step with the Victorian and NSW governments and their respective roads authorities on the long-running saga even though a plebiscite conducted in the Yarrawonga area last year backed the grey route.
Cr Miegel, who also queried whether an estimated $30,000 to carry out the survey was justified, was one out in opposing the survey.
Cr Bronwyn Thomas and Cr Andrew Kennedy, who live in the Mulwala area, both backed the survey.
Cr Gail Law also backed the survey and believes the grey route will be supported.
