Down in the amphitheatre near the Murray, a spherical video projection will bring viewers into the environment of a threatened fish species as one of many installations.
Executive Director Alyce Fisher said the new event brought together filmmaker Helen Newman, sculptor Michael Laubli and inter-disciplinary artist Greg Pritchard.
“When I moved here in 2017, I thought this space was perfect for this kind of festival, given the low light and the landscape,” she said.
“We received funding from Inspiring Australia for the pygmy perch film, and it snowballed from there.
“It’s a celebration of sustainability and environmental awareness.”
The Phoenix was made by Michael Laubli last year from re-purposed materials and is lit on fire using gas.
While it has been displayed outside the Sustainable Activity Centre at Gateway Village, this will be the first public demonstration of its full capability.
Limelight: Art. Science. Light is a free event with food options available, and will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday, September 20.
