A joint project between the Rotary Club of Albury Hume and the Wagirra Team, the tree was made into bench seats and a table for the Bungam Community Garden in central Albury.
Rotary Club of Albury Hume president Stephen O’Connell welcomed the project on Wednesday when a plaque was attached to one of the benches.
“From the disaster of the tree falling down, something really good has come out of it,” he said.
“Rotary always likes to give things back to the community and now people at the garden have a place where they can come to sit and relax and think.”
The Rotary club approached AlburyCity's Aboriginal Employment and Training Program, Wagirra Team to make the outdoor furniture.
Wagirra team member Shane Charles said four to five were involved in the project.
“It was a little community project,” he said.
“It was decided that we’d keep the finish natural and it’s come up good.”
Wagirra team leader Steve Onley said it was a good opportunity for the crew to work more widely in the community.
He said they had done other external works on top of their council jobs.
“We’re building a trail around the Wonga Wetlands,” he said.
“There will be 12 kilometres of additional trails in the next couple of years, looping around the Murray River.”
