Rupapare previously played with the Cutters in 2014 and is set to leave a gaping hole in Adrian Purtell’s side after he showed flashes of brilliance when fit this year.
“We won’t stop anyone going to a higher level,” club president Rick O’Connell said.
“We’re disappointed to lose him, but it opens another door for a young player.”
Meanwhile, nominations close on Friday for Thunder’s full contact women’s rugby league carnival at Greenfield Park next month.
Officials have been pleased with the response with eight sides entering the open division and five in the under-16s.
“It’s been going well,” O’Connell said.
“Teams are coming from as far away as Mudgee.
“Last year was successful and entries are still open.”
