Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton and Police Association of Victoria secretary Wayne Gatt will travel 500 kilometres to support former police battling mental health issues.
The pair trained in Melbourne on Tuesday for the walk.
They will leave from opposite ends of the state on October 1 and meet in Wangaratta 22 days later.
The initiative has so far raised more than $360,000 for the Victoria Police Mental Health Fund.
“Getting an opportunity to ‘walk the talk’ and do something that’s a more physical demonstration of an issue I’m passionate about will be really satisfying,” Chief Commissioner Ashton recently said.
