Scarlett Galvin, from St Patrick’s Holbrook, claimed gold in the 11 years girls high jump, while a trio from St Anne’s Primary School in Albury also reached the podium.
Kijana McCowan won gold in the junior girls high jump and long jump, Aleira McCowan took home silver in the 11 years girls high jump and bronze in the 11 years long jump, while Ashleigh Carty finished with the silver medal in the senior girls long jump.
Wagga Wagga Diocese team manager Caroline McCowan was very proud of their efforts.
“They were competing against students from all Catholic schools south of the Harbour Bridge (Parramatta, Sydney East, Sydney Inner West and Sydney South), Canberra and Wollongong,” McCowan said.
“They did a fantastic job because the competition is really strong.
“They’ve had to go through three stages, their school, Albury Deanery stage and the Diocesan stage to make it to this one.
“It’s not often that we get medals for MacKillop athletics in Sydney because most of the Sydney teams dominant these things.”
As a result, all four will represent the MacKillop team at the NSW PSSA State Championships, also in Sydney, at the end of October, competing against the leading students across all NSW schools.
