The pavilion at JC King Park has been stripped of its verandah, signage and rear wall as part of its demolition which began on Monday.
Site supervisor Hilly Westra, of contractor Connelly Construction, said the dismantling should be complete by October 12.
“None of it will be bulldozed, only the things we can’t reuse will be landfill and the other things will be taken to Albury Demolitions’ yard,” Mr Westra said.
While digging out a sewer subcontractors found old tyres and concrete linked to the site’s past use as a tip.
It is due to be completed by May with its concrete slab and tilt panels visible by Christmas.
A cluster of shipping containers have been installed to allow netball to continue to be played at the park.
They include toilets, a canteen and spaces to store gear and allow timekeeping.
