Anita Human, a new entrant competing in the novice section, took out the wedding cake and miniature special occasion cake categories while her four-tier wedding cake also claimed best novice exhibit.
“I was really, really excited and very proud, all the hard work pays off,” she said.
“The wedding cake itself took, from start the design to finish the decorations, 75 hours.
“It’s got about four kilograms of fondant on it and about four kilos of royal icing as well.”
Mrs Human specialises in “the real old school-style piping” and draws ideas from the scroll work seen on older buildings.
“The old beautiful mouldings in the cinemas as well,” she said.
“I stop and take photos and add it all into an inspiration board.”
Her blue miniature cake was also full of detail.
“I have a real passion for Wedgwood and I think that colour really goes beautifully with that style of piping,” Mrs Human said.
